Dan Burisch - S-4, J-Rod, and Looking Glass claimant

Dan Burisch - S-4, J-Rod, and Looking Glass claimant

  • Type: profile (first-person S-4 and alleged classified-program claimant)
  • Subject: Danny B. Crain, later Danny B. Catselas Burisch, born 1964. He claims that he was a microbiologist and Majestic operative assigned to Project Aquarius, sampled a future-human entity called J-Rod at S-4, participated in extraterrestrial treaty activity, and worked with Looking Glass and related technology.
  • Credibility: ~7 on the extraordinary claims. His identity and psychology B.A. are documented, and the main story is substantially stable from 2002 onward. The claimed microbiology doctorate, scientific career, military status, classified employment, physical evidence, and program records are not independently established. The doctorate claim is directly contradicted by the named university as reported by KLAS, then shifts in his own 2006 affidavit to an Sc.D. in Sacred and Life Sciences from an unnamed institution. See assessment.
  • Sourced: 2026-08-10

The public record establishes a real person with a psychology degree and parole-and-probation employment. It does not establish the scientific authority or classified access on which the J-Rod story depends.

Verified public record

The strongest ordinary facts are not controversial:

  • The official UNLV commencement program lists "Danny B Crain, Psychology" among Bachelor of Arts graduates. The program does not list him for biology. KLAS separately reported that UNLV confirmed a B.A. in psychology.
  • Contemporary records reproduced by Linda Moulton Howe show Nevada parole-and-probation training in 1988, a 1990 marriage to Deborah Burisch, a later legal name change, and a 2002 bankruptcy filing that listed him as a homemaker. Bankruptcy is not evidence that someone lied, but the filing and employment records establish an ordinary public chronology.
  • No evidence was located that he or his wife served in the military. George Knapp's 2005 KLAS report said neither had military service and that a displayed Nellis windshield sticker provided low-level commissary access, not evidence of a classified assignment. In Burisch's response, he disputed whose car carried the sticker but supplied no service or classified-employment record.

This makes the identity register strong, roughly 85. It does not transfer to the doctorate, S-4, or extraterrestrial registers.

The credential conflict

Burisch's scientific authority is the first load-bearing claim because the alleged S-4 role was biological research.

KLAS reported that Stony Brook said he had never been a student, that no professor remembered him, and that records placed him in a full-time Las Vegas parole job during the claimed 1989 doctorate period. The station also reported that a UNLV alumni-directory doctorate entry was self-reported and unverified. Burisch's own 2005 response accepted that Stony Brook had said "no way," attributed the denial to concealment, threatened possible litigation, and acknowledged that his wife submitted the alumni-directory information. He did not publish a registrar record, dissertation, committee roster, transcript, or diploma.

The affidavit packet offers four kinds of support, none institutionally independent:

  • Robert Byrd, a former coworker, swore that an unnamed Stony Brook registrar employee told him by telephone in early 1996 that Crain received a Ph.D. in 1989. No correspondence, employee name, or university record is attached.
  • Doreen Crain, Burisch's mother, swore that a doctoral diploma arrived by mail in 1990.
  • Deborah Burisch, his wife, swore that she removed and concealed the Stony Brook diploma. Her affidavit also says she was a Majestic agent, so it incorporates rather than independently tests the same narrative.
  • Drew Spangler swore that he saw Crain in Area 51 biology laboratories while working for Bechtel. The packet does not attach a Bechtel employment record, clearance record, access log, or corroborating witness.

Marci McDowell's much broader affidavit cannot function as independent corroboration. She describes herself as Burisch's close friend and business associate, says she owns his life-story rights, claims her own Majestic role and firsthand access to Looking Glass and J-Rod material, and makes still more extraordinary claims. Her statement is a primary source for the supporter narrative, not external verification of it.

There is also a material credential shift. Burisch's October 2006 affidavit does not affirm a Stony Brook microbiology Ph.D. It says he is entitled to the title "Docteur de la Science," abbreviated Sc.D., for a degree in Sacred and Life Sciences from an unnamed "legally authorized and accepted institution." McDowell's affidavit identifies a similarly framed French institution for her own music degrees. No independent institutional or accreditation record for that entity was located. A later Open Minds reconstruction nevertheless returns to calling him a Ph.D. microbiologist and claims two UNLV bachelor's degrees, including biological sciences. The official program substantiates the psychology degree but not the separately claimed biology degree.

Net scientific-credential register: roughly 8. The available record supports interest in microscopy and a psychology B.A., not a verified doctorate or professional microbiology career.

Main claims

The complete 2002 Hamilton interview already contains most of the core account:

  • He led a Project Aquarius working group and sampled J-Rod tissue at Sector 4.
  • J-Rods were future humans displaced through time, with biological degeneration caused by a future catastrophe.
  • A major catastrophe was associated with December 21, 2012.
  • Majestic 12 sat under a Committee of the Majority and managed treaty-based contact with allegedly confirmed Reticulan visitors.
  • Lotus and Staarflower concerned biological repair and wider extraterrestrial or time issues.

The three-part 2006 Project Camelot interview preserves the same core but substantially enlarges the institutional and personal scope. Burisch now calls himself a 20-year Majestic retiree, says he personally attended a 2003-2004 treaty conference with six visible future-human extraterrestrials and additional beings in sealed "strollers," and supplies a much more elaborate Looking Glass, Stargate, timeline, abduction, and ancient-history framework. See part 1, part 2, and part 3.

The claimed Papoose Lake S-4 setting overlaps Bob Lazar's earlier public story. The Project Aquarius label also had a documented public history in the Richard Doty and Paul Bennewitz disinformation stream. Neither overlap proves that Burisch copied a predecessor. It does mean the reused names are not independent corroboration.

Evidence offered

The Q-94-109A text

The alleged Q-94-109A report is the closest thing to a scientific artifact. It describes alien neural tissue using dense histology and molecular-biology vocabulary and bears Burisch's claimed naval rank and Aquarius title.

Its evidentiary value is near zero. The surviving public item is a promoter-hosted web transcription that says the claimed document had no security markings. No official release, original electronic file, custody chain, lab notebook, microscopy images, raw measurements, complete companion reports, specimen, or independently testable sample is supplied. The report refers outward to missing protocols and Q-94-109B through Q-94-109D, preventing reproduction. Technical vocabulary can show familiarity with terminology, but it cannot authenticate the source, organism, laboratory, author, or reported result.

Affidavits and alleged witnesses

The affidavits prove that named people signed statements and that some signatures were notarized. A notary verifies identity and execution, not the truth of the facts asserted. Three of the principal credential witnesses are his mother, wife, and close business associate. Byrd's registrar claim is recollection of an undocumented call. Spangler is the only signer claiming independent S-4 observation, but his own employment, clearance, location, and access are not verified in the packet.

Later visual reconstruction

The 2010 Open Minds Project Aquarius PDF is sometimes presented with the visual authority of a program report. Its own title page identifies Michael Schratt as the author, and its disclaimers describe the facility drawings as illustrative. It is a supporter reconstruction based chiefly on Burisch and McDowell, not a government document or independent investigation.

An exact-name PubMed search for Dan Burisch, Danny Crain, and Dan Catselas Burisch returned zero records on August 10, 2026. Searches for the claimed dissertation title, "The Use of Hypochlorite Complexes on Malignant Tissue," located only Burisch-related supporter pages, not a university catalog or dissertation record. These negative searches do not prove that no publication exists under another name or outside the searched databases. They do show that no conventional scientific record was found to support the public presentation of an accomplished microbiologist.

Claim integrity

The record is mixed in a way worth preserving:

  • Stable core: J-Rod, S-4, Aquarius, future humans, a 2012-linked catastrophe, Majestic, treaties, and Lotus are all present in the 2002 primary interview. They are not inventions that first appear in the 2006 Project Camelot production.
  • Narrative expansion: by 2006, Burisch adds a 20-year Majestic career, firsthand treaty-conference participation, multiple future-human delegations, and a larger Looking Glass and Stargate cosmology. These additions increase the number and scale of unsupported claims.
  • Credential shift: the public claim is a 1989 Stony Brook microbiology or cellular-biology Ph.D.; his own 2006 sworn statement instead relies on an Sc.D. in Sacred and Life Sciences from an unnamed institution. The affidavit does not resolve the Stony Brook denial.
  • Self-sealing explanations: missing school and employment records are attributed to Majestic erasure, ordinary employment is described as cover, the missing diploma is said to be hidden for safety, and the 2012 catastrophe is framed as a potential timeline that disclosure activity could avert. Each explanation makes contrary evidence compatible with the story, leaving no clear failure condition.

The consistency credit is therefore real but limited. A long-running stable story is evidence about continuity and perhaps sincerity. It is not independent evidence that the events occurred.

Credibility assessment

1. What raises credibility

  1. A real, identifiable person with a documented psychology degree and ordinary employment history.
  2. A core account that is substantially present in a complete 2002 interview and remains recognizable in 2006.
  3. Specific names, dates, facilities, and alleged witnesses that are more checkable than wholly anonymous lore.
  4. A direct public rebuttal to Knapp and occasional distinctions between what Burisch says he experienced and what he only read.
  5. Signed statements from alleged witnesses, even though their independence and underlying records are weak.

2. What lowers credibility

  1. The load-bearing scientific doctorate is contradicted by the named university as reported by KLAS, unsupported by a dissertation or institutional record, and replaced in his own 2006 affidavit by a differently framed Sc.D.
  2. No verified military service, naval rank, security clearance, classified employer, access record, laboratory record, or program document.
  3. The main corroborators are family members, a business associate who owns the life-story rights, or alleged witnesses whose own access has not been documented.
  4. The Q-94 report has no authenticated provenance, reproducible data package, specimen, or independent test.
  5. No located conventional publication record supports the claimed scientific career.
  6. The story grows from an already extraordinary 2002 core into a larger treaty, time-travel, Stargate, and cosmological system without a corresponding increase in evidence.
  7. Record erasure, cover employment, a hidden diploma, and an avertable timeline make the account resistant to falsification.

3. Net assessment

Composite credibility on the extraordinary claims: ~7.

Component ratings:

  • Identity and ordinary public record: ~85
  • Psychology B.A.: ~90
  • Microbiology doctorate and scientific authority: ~8
  • Majestic, Navy, Aquarius, and S-4 employment: ~5
  • J-Rod, extraterrestrial treaties, Looking Glass, and Stargate: ~2

The verified ordinary biography should be retained. The scientific-authority framing is strongly undermined. The S-4 and extraterrestrial claims should receive essentially no evidentiary weight unless independent institutional records, original lab material, or independently testable physical evidence emerges.

4. Position relative to other figures

Burisch sits just above Phil Schneider at roughly 5 because Burisch has a verified degree, a traceable public identity, an extensive primary archive, named alleged witnesses, and a substantially stable core. He sits below Steven Greer at roughly 10 because Greer has at least one independently documented organizational achievement in the 2001 Disclosure Project, while no equivalent independently verified act supports Burisch's core role. He is far below Lazar's roughly 30 composite because Lazar has independently verified Los Alamos employment even though his education and S-4 interpretation remain contested.

5. Role-category placement

Role category: first-person classified-program and S-4 claimant, with a pseudoscientific-document and future-human contact component. He is best used as a primary source for the J-Rod, Project Aquarius, Lotus, and Looking Glass story lineage, not as evidence that those programs or beings existed.

Followup items

  • Obtain the original KLAS broadcast and the underlying written responses from Stony Brook and UNLV, if station or university archives retain them.
  • Identify and verify Drew Spangler's Bechtel employment, worksite, dates, and claimed clearance through independent records.
  • Seek a dissertation catalog entry, committee member, transcript, registrar correspondence, or independently inspectable diploma for the claimed 1989 Stony Brook doctorate.
  • Identify the institution behind the 2006 Sacred and Life Sciences Sc.D. and determine its legal and accreditation status at the time.
  • Locate an original Q-94 document with file history or custody chain, plus the referenced Q-94-109B through Q-94-109D materials, raw data, and images.
  • Compare the full 1998 Eagles Disobey text with the 2002 and 2006 interviews to establish the earliest public form of every major claim.
  • Verify the 1991-1994 versus 1991-1996 S-4 work-date variants against Burisch's own earliest statements rather than promoter summaries.
