UAP radio-frequency and "dog whistle" claims

A recurring claim-cluster holds that UAPs emit, respond to, or can be summoned by specific electromagnetic frequencies. This page catalogs the frequencies actually named across the base's sources and shows how they relate. It assigns no credibility rating — each source keeps its own assessment; the point here is simply to detail what frequency each claim asserts, in what sense, and where the prosaic candidates and category confusions lie.

Audio tones (acoustic, Hz to kHz) — the "dog whistle"

The item that popularized "dog whistle" language is an audio recipe, not an RF one. In April 2025 an X user (@JasonWilde108) posted a layered audio "UAP summoning" signal that spread via Reddit: 7.83 Hz (the Schumann resonance), 528 Hz (the New Age "Love" frequency), 432 Hz (an ambient tuning), 2.5 kHz chirps, a 17 kHz ultrasonic ping, and a white-noise layer. The frequencies were chosen for esoteric reputations, not physics. The compilation that catalogs and debunks them is ../raw/articles/uap-facts-dog-whistle-frequency-claims — which itself flags that audio (acoustic pressure waves) is not electromagnetic radiation and cannot propagate outward as a summoning "signal," and that the "serious" versions of the idea are RF, below.

RF band, 1.4 to 1.8 GHz (Skinwalker Ranch / Skywatcher)

This is where the RF "dog whistle" lore actually lives:

  • 1.42 GHz — the hydrogen line, SETI's candidate universal hailing frequency; invoked on the theory that a technological intelligence "might recognize" it.
  • 1.6 GHz — the frequency the Secret of Skinwalker Ranch program reported as a spike coinciding with drilling activity, and the frequency the Skywatcher team is said to transmit (attributed to Ross Coulthart, but in the compilation above it traces only to Reddit threads, not a cited primary). Claimed to make UAPs "show up like ringing a bell."
  • 1.8 GHz — a claimed "response" detected after a 1.6 GHz transmission ceases. No peer-reviewed confirmation; explicitly unverified even in the pro-claim sources.
  • 1.618 GHz — a golden-ratio (Φ) numerology claim; Φ is a pure number with no electromagnetic significance, and this is treated as coincidence.

Microwave bands, 1-3 and 8-12 GHz

Christopher Mellon (../raw/articles/mellon-disclosure-national-security-uap-2023) wrote in November 2023 that many objects encountered by the military were "emitting radiation in the 1-3 and 8-12 gigahertz range." The essay does not provide the underlying case list, measurements, or sensor records. The same bands later appeared in AARO reporting-trend material, but the public category label alone does not connect the reports to Grusch's alleged tracking program.

S-band, ~2.8 to 3 GHz (the "3 GHz" thread)

Two independent sources in the base put a UAP frequency claim in S-band, well above the Skywatcher band — a thread the dog-whistle compilations (which stop at 1.8 GHz) omit entirely:

Both land in the same S-band neighborhood (~2.8–3 GHz). Ramirez's "respond to 3 GHz" and the RB-47's "near 2800 mcs" are the base's actual 3 GHz references — neither appears in the whistle.uap-facts.com catalog.

Two different kinds of claim (the distinction the lore blurs)

A specific frequency showing up in one context is not evidence for another, because the claims are not the same kind:

  • Detected emission (passive): the RB-47 (1957) figure is a frequency measured coming from the object by ECM gear. It says nothing about summoning.
  • Transmitted summoning / elicited response (active): Skywatcher's 1.6 GHz and Ramirez's 3 GHz are frequencies broadcast to summon a UAP or provoke a response.

"What UAPs emit" and "what UAPs respond to" are separate claims that the frequency lore tends to merge into a single "UAP frequency," and no source connects them evidentially.

Prosaic candidates

The named RF bands overlap heavily with ordinary human systems, which the pro-claim sources acknowledge: 1.575 GHz is GPS L1; 1.6–1.8 GHz carries GPS/GLONASS, satellite, and earth-to-space communications; 1.42 GHz is protected radio-astronomy spectrum; and S-band (~2–4 GHz) is the standard ground search-radar band the RB-47 operators themselves compared the signal to. None of the "anomalous" spikes has been confirmed as UAP-caused rather than a known emitter, satellite pass, or the instruments' own environment.
