Source: Reddit, r/UFOs, post by u/HeathJett (96 upvotes; 103 comments). The OP flags an apparent contradiction between a new Bob Lazar claim in the "S4" documentary (that Dennis had him walk under the craft during the test flight, where it became invisible via gravitational light-bending) and Lazar's earlier statements (1989 Bill Goodman show: "I never got directly under it"; 1996 UFO Line radio ep. 4, surfaced by u/GreenVenus2025: he went "nowhere near the UFO when it was powered up and flying").

Post (u/HeathJett)
In the new S4 documentary, a new story is revealed from Bob Lazar, stating that during the up close UFO test flight, Dennis told him to go under the UFO, and when he did he could no longer see it due to the Gravity light bending properties. In the documentary he says this: "Dennis instructed me to go out and I stopped looked at the craft that was sitting on there and began to lift off the ground silently there was a little hiss from the corona discharge kind of a bluish purplish glow at the bottom which dissipated as it took off, Once it was sitting in the air Dennis instructed me to go further and I went out I didn't look up I was just looking forward and then looked up under the craft, and I looked back at Dennis and he motioned me to come back and I started walking back I saw his hand go up and he said the indicators for me to look up and I looked up and the craft wasn't there, and I looked over at Dennis and he, he motioned for me to go… go back and I looked and as I moved forward the craft comes into view so you, you could actually see the photons bending around the gravitational envelope the of the craft you can see the sky above the craft bending and as you walk by it comes into view and then out of you it's really it's… it's it really leaves an impression it's a pretty impressive thing to see." This, to my knowledge is something that Bob Lazar had not stated before in public previous to the documentary release. This statement of going under the UFO conflicts with a statement Bob made on the 1989 Bill Goodman show. Here Bob states specifically that he never got directly under the craft https://youtu.be/037JjaeRUKg?si=oFZ9vzFjtGtpMqzJ&t=2586 Caller: Now could you quickly describe the underside of these ships Bob: No because From a side view of only one craft the other ones are always sitting on the ground I never saw it but the underside is essentially flat now I don't I never got directly under it to look there might be some features down there but I really don't know Even more compelling, reddit user GreenVenus2025 (who graciously permitted me to post this info here) discovered on episode 4 of the 1996 UFO line radio show that Bob restates that he went nowhere near the UFO when it was powered up and flying at the test flight he allegedly witnessed: https://youtu.be/sJgWwCL5XYM?si=t5jb91YQLIqq_Zan&t=1072 Caller: I got another item The other point that I wanted to make you know you described the disk, the disk drive is being capable of bending space and time? Bob: Yeah Caller: OK and we all know that the space is interfaced with time, therefore I wondered if… Bob: Space time and gravity are all interrelated Caller: I wondered if the operations personal, you know, during the time that you viewed liftoff, uh did they have any kind of barricades or anything or indicate that you shouldn't stand too close? Bob: Well it was out on the on the edge of the dry lake bed, there no one was outside, no one was outside at all, everyone just lined up by the, you know, hanger door Caller: Yeah I was just wondering you know about some memory loss and that type of thing if you were close to that distortion field Bob: No, wasn't close Caller: Not that close, huh Bob: No In addition to these contradictions to Bob's test flight story in S4, SignalsIntelligence recently released a discovery he found from Bob's Interview with what appears to be New Line Cinema in the 90s https://www.reddit.com/r/BobLazarNew/comments/1us1gbu/did_bob_lazar_walk_under_the_craft_during_a/ In that interview Bob once again said he never walked under the craft, but heard from Barry (not from his own experience) that it would disappear if you walked under it Interviewer: To your knowledge could a person walk under it? Did you ever see that happen? Bob: I never saw that happen. I can't imagine what would happen if you walked under it... I heard specifically, as if someone had done it, because Barry told me that if you walk under it you can see only the sky above it. Because of the way the amplifiers work, they're bending the light around it so if you stand here and look above it... you can only see the clouds, cause your vision… Bob is also asked what happens if you walk under the UFO, and he states he doesn't know what would happen: Interviewer: To just have a character watching it fly... if we end up being able to do this... and walk forward and have some anxiety like... the reason I ask that question is it's not that far off the ground. What would happen... we've already established that guys have died doing this... if one scientist or observer gets a little carried away and starts to walk closer and someone else is... hey, what... we don't know what is going to happen... that's Hollywood... but that's dramatizing it without a big lie. Because there can be a sense... if your character's watching someone walk under it... of wait... what's going to happen... and we go to that character's POV and see the sky appear... it explains a lot of things about flying saucers, which is how do they get away with their being around and you don't see them all the time. You know, and that's startling. Bob: Well, it depends on the vantage point... but you don't know what'll happen... I don't know what'll happen if you walk directly under the locus of the amplifier... is it like walking into a column (?) are you crashed or does nothing happen at all. That I really don't know. IN SUMMARY 1989 Billy Goodman Interview When asked to describe the bottom of the UFO Bob says he "never got directly under it" 90s Movie Interview (Transcript from Bob Lazar's old website) When asked if he ever saw anyone walk under the UFO, Bob says " I never saw that happen. I can't imagine what would happen if you walked under it." 1996 UFO line radio show episode 4 When asked if Bob got close to the UFO when powered on everyone hung out inside the hanger doors and no one (including himself) was outside or got close to the UFO during the test flight In these previous statements on three separate occasions, Bob specifically states that he was never was under the UFO, which is completely the opposite of what he claims in the new S4 documentary. These statement are not fuzzy differences that can easily be chalked up to memory lapses over time, they are apparent conflicting statements to the current Lazar account of the UFO test flight. Recent podcasters have exclaimed that Bob's story has never changed ( https://youtu.be/d9tdJ2SkBKQ?si=P8gF62A0RN-XyNcO&t=599 , https://youtu.be/Lb_1d68vx-g?si=j9PaK5sVePaTJIC5&t=505 ), but this is not the case for the test flight event and many other aspects of the Lazar story. These and other inconsistencies and contradictions represent significant red flags to the legitimacy of the Lazar story, at least in my opinion.

- u/imnotsureanymore2004: Maybe he’s not telling truth
- u/WhyBee92: No he just has a crazy migraine
- u/lazersmoker: That would be a decent take, if he hadn't also done 6 or 7 other full interviews with no migraine
- u/Live_Leopard9202: I fully believe this has been a hoax since day 1, but here we are 40+ years later and everyone is still talking about him.
- u/Ok-Watercress-1702: He could very well be a plant spreading misinformation
- u/carnivorousdrew: 300 years ago a Maltese priest in Sicily pretended to be fluent in Arabic and tour guided a visiting sultan by speaking gibberish to the sultan. He then also made made up translations of arabic manuscripts making it look like the ancestors of Sicilian aristocrats were mentioned several times in the manuscript. This guy managed to keep the scam going for 10 years and even got a whole university department built and dedicated to him in the meanwhile.
- u/rygelicus: Well, 3,000 years ago or so stories were written that said a big flood wiped out all life on earth except for a boatload of animals and a family of 8, and that a god created the world, universe, and life just a couple thousand years before that. Pure fiction but today several billion people still believe these stories.
- u/the_tone_of_shape: I'm not religious and don't believe in the bible, but there is a lot of evidence for a great flood
- u/rygelicus: Floods happen, but not of the 'wipe out all life on earth all at once' variety.
- u/K1LLERM00SE: If you had a large enough object impact the earth it would absolutely create a tidal wave large enough to wipe out a significant portion of the life on the planet. And probably a gnarly ice age afterwards.
- u/rygelicus: Ok, that's an 'if', what about evidence for such a flood? You said there was evidence for a 'great flood', one which presumably aligns well with the noah story both with the timing and the scale of that story.
- u/Gusion_98: Same thing with Travis Walton
- u/Debuld_Signs: Bro John Lear was the one who introduce Lazar to Knapp. You know how this goes.
- u/t3hW1z4rd: I think Vallee's theory about him being an MKUltra victim is the only thing that makes any sense at this point. It's pretty fucking bizarre that those doors may exist for the hangars. I can't say I'm entirely convinced by the photo but Lazar sure as shit doesn't speak like an Aerospace engineer and the whole story makes no sense from any angle.
- u/Partysausage: It's wild to me that people make careers out of the grift and people just blindly follow...
- u/KILOCHARLIES: In his early interviews he used to say the sports model had just 2 seats. And that he only ate at Area 51, but later there’s a lunch room at S4. Plus loads of inconsistencies about the process on how he got the job. His story is not consistent whatsoever.
- u/LabTeq: Out of all the bullshit, the lunch room was the true nail in the coffin for me. Like if he can't even get the mundane parts of the story straight, like where he ate lunch EVERYDAY, then he truly loves just making shit up at all times. In Luigi's documentary he lays out how the cafeteria was down the hall from where he would visit the nurse, but in a recent Area 52 interview he says there was no cafeteria but just a vending machine where he would regularly get peanut butter crackers. There are just people out there who just need to make up every aspect of their lives for some reason, when they could have left those details out and probably been less suspicious.
- u/KILOCHARLIES: To play devil’s advocate, if you read between the lines he’s really saying he only worked there on a few occasions. He says he only worked there for a number of months, this I think was worked out to be less than 3 given his timeline. Then he says he was only called out there at random days, so likely only around 5 times max. He never explicitly confirms this as it makes his story shaky, but still I’d remember exactly the lunch options that were available.
- u/wes_wyhunnan: Because he lies, all the time. How are we still having this conversation? “His story has changed 11 times and there’s no evidence at all that any of it has ever happened, what’s that mean guys?”
- u/buddycrime: This
- u/Ok-Way7122: Congrats! You found one of the many, many inconsistencies and complete story changes in his entirely the same that never changes unless you want to push someones credibility on a podcast story A favourite and somewhat hilarious inconsistency is they used to be aliens, straight up aliens in the same room (Greys obviously, they were in vogue at the time of a very popular film with hand scanners came out) then two short people that looked odd, then two figures that could have been dummies but he only saw them through a door while walking past Seriously, listen to a call in he did and then the last do-not-ask-that-question-here-sign-this interview and it is absolutely insane some of the things he says and no one brings it up because he only does interviews if you agree to not cover certain things because apparently, he isn't allowed to talk about certain things he used to be able to talk about Man is a fraud who never made money on the topic but has a shop selling things related to the topic and charges money for appearances
- u/XCherryCokeO: Joe Rogan is CIA
- u/Adorable-Fly-2187: That there really exists more as one Person in the world who still believes lazar is something that is absolutely crazy to me
- u/roy217def: If his colleague figured how to work things, what were they. I don’t hear any technical details on how they got things to work. Was it specific emissions, light pulses, etc. They both seemed to interact with a little of the technology but nothing about the how? I find this odd from technical people. I also don’t think anyone has asked those specific questions.
- u/Many_Consequence590: Because he's a liar.
- u/SageWithTheSauce: Watch the UAPGerb video on bob lazar, he doesn’t make any claims - just straight facts and you can make up your own mind. Spoiler alert, Bob lazar story is super sketchy…

- u/Financial-Ad7500: I remember so many people saying he’s the most credible because his story never changes after the Rogan exposure he had. Did one google search and found like 10+ instances of contradicting stories.
- u/StinkingDogsCunt420: Yeah it's actually nuts that his fanboys will spout the kind of nonsense about him you can disprove with literal seconds of googling, starting to think he just has an army of bots to post about him on here.

- u/fedsmoker9: Because he’s lying? lol?
- u/macacolouco: He's a highly intelligent, highly persuasive liar.
- u/StinkingDogsCunt420: Bob's always changing his stories, probably something to do with wanting to sell more books or documentaries or whatever the hell he's got going on at the moment, absolutely not a man to be trusted. This is all just my opinion mods please don't ban me for it
- u/Ok-Way7122: The fact you have to put that bit at the end is hilarious It's so easy to get banned here after all
- u/Bluewhaleeguy: And it's mad because saying stuff like that which is normal and sensible - you're made out to be the problem on the sub. But they don't realise that ignoring all the evidence bob has laid out himself over the years that shows he's lying about things, just because he's part of the movement and they like what he says - it does far more damage to disclosure and figuring out what these things are that visit us. If somebody lies to you 6 times, do you believe them the 7th time? I can't believe people still look the other way on bob.
- u/DavidM47: Dude’s story is Swiss cheese! Full of holes.
- u/xwx1234: I wish Bob Lazar would just go away. The late, great Stanton Friedman debunked him pretty well. ETA: https://youtu.be/6ZVtTLkftmg?si=HmjA4XICgPOlxkiB
- u/Fixervince: I have noticed this kind of thing before. If you listen to his coast to coast interviews from the early 90s (available on YouTube) then watch the modern stuff, then you kind of get it that he is making stuff up and adding details that were strangely missing much nearer the supposed events. I say that as someone who initially felt he sounded genuine. However that and the educational fairy stories make it very hard to believe anything he says.
- u/plonkman: because it's a huge pile of horseshit
- u/jasmine-tgirl: Guy has more red flags than China. https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/oyxuok/bob_lazars_story_is_it_believable_here_is_some_of/
- u/That_Em: “But I thought his story never changed in 723 years”
- u/Intrepid_Following_5: Missed opportunity to have written 115 years… 😢
- u/eddie1975: It hasn’t changed in Moscovium years.
- u/Sayk3rr: Yea I stopped believing when he changed the story about the cafeteria, couldn't answer a question like walk me through a typical day then suddenly comes back and is able too, this as well as you're pointing out. Too many inconsistencies, when he came out, like most people that make huge claims, his focus was purely built around the big story items; area 51, S4, UFOs, etc, always struggled with the finer details which is exactly what liars do, the finer details are harder to remember because a lie requires repetition to remember, and for it to line up with everything else, where as actually being there just requires you to scoop from memory. Maybe folks don't mention him in the intelligence community solely because you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you say he's lying, people will double down and say "they're trying to discredit".
- u/essdotc: Because the internet happened.
- u/eddie1975: Bob Lazar and Dr. Steven Greer are not believable. Luis Elizondo has lost some credibility. The only trustworthy guys/gals are the military pilots and radar operators like Commander David Fravor and Lieutenant Ryan Graves. Any alien abduction story so far I have found unbelievable. Alien sightings I’m also very skeptical about.
- u/DaemonBlackfyre_21: I remember him talking about it being invisible from underneath years ago.
- u/molecular_fart: Because all these talking heads are liars and manipulating people to make some money. None of these talking heads are in any sort of communication with NHI. This administration blows up girls schools, rapes kids, and imprisons children in concentration camps. Anyone who believes this administration and those associated are willfully ignorant.
- u/PuzzleheadedCut5156: Given Bob's provably falsified academic claims and criminal convictions it should be obvious by now that he's a chronic liar who undermines the credibility of the field.
- u/Alpha_Space_1999: Time travellers are rewriting history. /s
- u/Infamous_Copy5113: Because he is a liar and his recent reappearance in media is because he is a disinformation agent as well as the rest of them. UFOs exist in the same way as NDEs and deceased loved ones appearing at the foot of your bed. they have to do with life’s meaning in a spiritual sense. Those ufo videos are not ufos they are advanced technology and the whole narrative that they are here as part of a takeover is a lie. The director of the CIA stated in the late 1980s when asked when the disinformation would be a success responded “When everything the public believes to be true is false”. Look it up it’s true.
- u/t105: Disinformation reportedly started in the late 40s. Sightenings existed pre WWII. Its well documneted.
- u/Ibn-Ach: Also, a very crucial point is the radioactive effects of the crafts that supposedly he did not suffer from!

- u/mrmykeonthemic: Since day 1 the guy knows too much definitely a plant
- u/BeleagueredWDW: Why has his story changed? 🤔 It’s hard to keep track when you’ve been lying for decades.
- u/FunAstronomer2900: Simple answer. Because it's a story and not fact.
- u/Such_Reference_8186: Remember this always. Whenever a significant piece of a story changes over time. The person is not honest. That goes for all things not just this.
- u/Bananacomment: I call him Bob Liezar. Anything from Knapp and Corbell is a baloney sandwich. Case in point: the 29 palms hoax courtesy of Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell. As well please see Knapp’s empty Netflix special, if that’s the best he’s got after all these years then it tells you all you need to know. Edit a critical word to not get banned
- u/Vaperapani: Ask him? How are we supposed to know the intricacies of this
- u/coastal_ghost08: Because Lazar is full of shit
- u/DAT_DROP: Tells me it's all ours. He was shown an electro-magneto-plasmatic craft that fell within the domain of 'classified' - yet entirely terrestrial- physics
- u/CascadeMountainz: This movie confirmed his grift to me -- Bob is squarely on the "100% full of sh*t" list now. Even within the movie, he contradicts himself, uses multiple pronunciations of names of "good friends" (i.e. Mario), etc. I'm done with him.
- u/Weary-Fox-1263: He’s said he’s held back with some of the details over the years, because if there’s an off chance he met someone who worked with him or knew of the program and could corroborate things as proof. I don’t know the food choices I had in school 30 years ago, or names of some people I ate with, and I’m about 30 years younger than Bob. I would assume memory is about to take a nose dive after 55ish.
- u/Sunbird86: Bob is an intrinsic part of UFO lore, and he knows it. He is famous in UFO circles to the extent of being one of its top 5 biggest figures, ever. He is absolutely in this for the attention and fame.
- u/jandmmann2006: With so many rewrites of the flight story, does normal memory loss really explain why the facts keep flipping?
- u/Ok-Diver3111: In an episode of coast to coast he stated that there were 2 seats in the craft. Later he alsways spoke about 3. One should think that you would never forget this detail of an almost empty alien spaceship.

- u/carc: Lots of Lazar hate. Jury is still out IMO. I want to believe, but on the fence, and wouldn't be surprised if he was either proven right OR proven to be a hoax.
- u/jasmine-tgirl: jury isnt out to most rational people https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/oyxuok/bob_lazars_story_is_it_believable_here_is_some_of/
- u/carc: I respect your opinion, I just have some difficulty with believing Lazar wholesale, though I'd like to. It's not definitive or authoritative, just my personal hesitation, and I'm not pushing people either way. Not sure why it's worth downvoting me, whether you're pro-Lazar or anti-Lazar, but ok.
- u/Janika1701: I’ve noticed that too. If he really studied Bob so closely, he would know that Bob deliberately held things back at the time - for various reasons that he explains in the Area52 interview. I get the feeling there’s a disinformation campaign underway here, especially since Reddit shows up as a source of information on Google.
- u/Downvotesohoy: It's a logical response to people bringing up Lazar as if he's a credible source of information. There will be a counter-reaction with people spending their time making it clear just how big of a fraud Bob is. It's like, imagine we were on subreddit dedicated to Earth, and some guy kept showing up telling us it was flat. And more and more people kept saying it was flat. Eventually you'd have people spending time posting proof and evidence that it isn't flat. You are mad at the ones bringing facts and evidence that the Earth isn't flat, instead of being mad at the guy spreading the misinformation to begin with.
- u/Material-Word29: Garbage shit post with garbage bots.
- u/ComedianMinute7290: how is evidence based facts a 'garbage shit post'? Bob is the one that said these things. we often discuss Bob's statements here...why isn't it valid to discuss Bob's own words?
- u/Greenvenus2025: It's not garbage - there is literal hard evidence that's been around since the 90s proving everything in the original post. Why are you saying proof against Lazar's story is the work of bots? Does it occur to you that whilst elements of his story might be based in facts, he may be making up that it happened to him?
- u/CrashFix: Can you cite your references for "And another time"?
- u/the_real_freezoid: Wow so many haters here. Is this bots gathering or what
- u/sixties67: Wow so many haters here. Only if you think using critical thinking is hateful.
- u/InternationalClass60: Dont try to reason with the bots. Bots cant do critical thinking, only whine. Knapp believes Lazar, and he was in the middle of it. That pretty much says it all.
- u/krysnoxx: Yes yes, because everyone who says something you don't like must be a bot
- u/FunPin2804: I'd just like to see what your memory will be like in 30 years, lol. I don't want to defend him, and to be honest, I don't really follow his story or the documentary about him, because I think there are more interesting things out there about this whole UFO/UAP/NHI phenomenon.
- u/sixties67: His story wasn't even consistent in the first few months after going public. https://medium.com/@signalsintelligence/believing-bob-lazar-part-ii-a-consistent-story-7ada441955ba
- u/t105: Its also possible he was MKultrad.
- u/MinuteMinX: His story finally pays off after 30 years, thats why. All those movies and podcasts, yummy!
- u/mustang_s550: No body can keep a consistent story over years, even witnesses to a crime. It will change over period of years especially as your aging. Humans aren't robots with ram and ssd in us. Use your common sense. The only red flag for me is he's education. But then again the government can do really evil things
- u/krysnoxx: Oh c'mon
- u/Standardeviation2: People will probably downvote you, but this is very true and I say that as someone who doesn’t believe Bob. But whether I believe Bob or not, the idea that his story changed in certain details overtime is not the “Gotcha” that people think it is. Indeed, criminal investigators, while they will look for inconsistencies, are also highly suspicious of stories that are told exactly the same way because that is not how memory works, unless you memorized a script.
- u/krysnoxx: I think more than a few certain details have changed over the years. Nobody is gonna deny memory changes but I think the story has changed too much to be credible
- u/Standardeviation2: I had an experience in childhood that caused me to have a lot of hurt and resentment that I held towards my father for decades. My sister was witness to it. I never talked about it with her until I was an adult because it hurt. When I finally did, she said, “That wasn’t Dad, Mom is the one that did that.” My Dad was deceased by this time, so I confronted my Mom, and she acknowledged it had been her all along, despite the fact that in my memory it was clearly my Dad. We can’t trust our memories for even the most basic foundational facts.
- u/mustang_s550: Exactly! Someone with actual brain cells. People should try writing down a time where they had a fun experience with their friends, then rewrite it again 3 weeks later without looking at the first one and compare. It won't be the same. To make it even crazier ask your friends to do the same and watch how everyone story would be remarkably different from each other.
- u/torrentsintrouble: Can't wait for your post about the JFK assassination and what they said 70 years ago and are now saying today!
- u/Greenvenus2025: All of Lazar's claims came from other sources, he just concocted his story about working at S4 from information he learned from friends like test pilot John Lear and Tonopah Test Range employee Jim Tagliani. The issue is not whether some of the information he repeated is true or not, the issue is whether or not he actually worked on alien craft as he claims. Evidence strongly suggests he didn't. The JFK comparison is a very good one. Just because someone had inside info on it doesn't mean they personally shot him.
- u/InternationalClass60: Sure he did.
- u/RefrigeratorSimilar9: Don't you ever forget Bob Lazar was arrested for being a pimp...
- u/illuminatiisnowhere: I believe that was in 1991. For being such an amazing physicist to got to work on the most top secret project on earth, he sure had few physicist jobs after that.
